BDB Pitmans was established in 2018 following a merger between legacy firms Bircham Dyson Bell (BDB) and Pitmans Law, bringing together over 300 years of legal expertise across 4 locations – Cambridge, London, Reading and Southampton.

The Private Real Estate Group provides high quality advice and service to private clients, trusts and family offices in connection with their real estate affairs. It works closely where appropriate with other specialists in the Firm, including in particular Private Client and Commercial Real Estate lawyers to achieve that aim. The Group currently comprises 5 partners, 24 fee earners and 6 support staff across the Firm’s 4 offices.

An opportunity for a hard-working and focussed lawyer to join the Private Real Estate Group of Top 70 firm BDB Pitmans LLP and to pursue their ultimate career aspirations there.

Based in the firm’s Cambridge office the successful candidate would work with partner Tim Middleton in building and growing the team and its reputation for providing high quality residential property services in this vibrant and burgeoning marketplace. There is a clear path for this person to ultimately become the firm’s “face” for such services in the City and to fulfil their long-term career goals.

• A track record of providing a full range of high quality, profitable residential property services relating to both freehold and leasehold property transactions and funding arrangements.
• Experience of acting for a variety of clients including individuals, investors, corporates, UK lenders and trusts
• The ability to demonstrate support and development provided to junior team members in order to nurture their talents.
• Both the desire and a proven ability to not only be a “work doer” but a “work getter” and ideally the candidate would already be known to many of the major work referrers in the Cambridge marketplace and have an existing reputation with them for providing high quality RP service.

Although these qualities need not be demonstrated upon commencement of the role, the candidate should have an appetite to acquire the commercial acumen and managerial qualities necessary to rise quickly through the ranks as part of a long-term career plan.

Qualifications

• Admission to the Solicitor Roll
• 2:1 Degree or higher preferred

Knowledge / Experience

• 3+ years PQE
• Proficiency in IT with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint”
