The team

Our Corporate and Commercial team work across all sectors on a variety of commercial agreements and corporate transactions. They advise UK and international clients on all aspects from structural changes or strategic alliances through to day-to-day business management, IP and data protection. Many of the team have come from large city firms and while the quality of work is comparable the culture and ethos within the team is friendly and collegiate.

The opportunity

Responsibilities 

An opportunity has arisen for a Legal Administrator to join our Corporate and Commercial team in Cambridge. The role will be working alongside partners and fee earners to provide them with general administrative and legal support.

The main tasks of this role would include:

  • Dealing with and responding to client queries
  • General administrative tasks such as paper filing, electronic filing (profiling), scanning and archiving, amending documents
  • Organising meetings and calendar management
  • Invoicing
  • File management (file opening, closing, matter balance clearance, scheduling)
  • Answering phones and taking messages wherever appropriate
  • Scanning and profiling post
  • Expenses claims
  • Maintaining client databases, entering new client and contact information (we use Interaction and Elite)
  • Providing general support to the Cambridge corporate team and wider Cambridge office

A further aspect of the role would be to support the Cambridge corporate partner in his work as a notary public. This would include:

  • Handling client queries and providing fee quotes
  • Information and identification document gathering and file opening
  • Arranging appointments
  • Arranging apostilles with the FCDO
  • Document preparation
  • Invoicing
  • Record keeping and file management

Full training will be given on this aspect.

 

Who we are looking for

Knowledge/Experience

 

  • Some previous experience of working in a professional or law firm setting is preferred
  • Experience of working on corporate law matters would be useful but is not essential as full training will be given. Candidates should however be able to demonstrate an interest in corporate law.

Job Specification 

9.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week.

Reasonable additional hours may be required from time to time.
